BOYCOTT MACYS! That's the rallying cry as there's an increasing amount of controversy brewing around the July 1st arrest and police beating of Raymond Scott who is better known as Raydog of the Boston based rap group RSO. According to reports, Raydog was shopping at Macys along with a friend named Trevor Watson at the South Shore Plaza. Raydog aroused suspicion when he attempted to charge $1,500 dollars to his American Express card. A Macy's spokes person named Tim Ray reported to the Boston Herald that the clerk who was waiting on Raydog became alarmed about the 'speed with which the purchases were made, the dollar value and the men's fashion sense.' The clerk called American Express and reported the card stolen which resulted in it being 'frozen'. Raydog says he aroused suspicion because he was African American.

Raydog was arrested as he attempted to leave the store by Braintree, Mass police. Reports say that he became confrontational and had to be subdued by pepper spray. He was charged with assaulting a police officer, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Raydog says he was beat by police and dragged out the mall. He was arraigned in Quincy District Court just before the July 4th holiday weekend. It was later discovered that the credit card was not stolen and was in fact belonged to Raydog. It was also discovered that Raydog's large purchase was not unusual for him. There are unconfirmed stories circulating that notes that last year Raydog made close to $20,000 in purchases on his American Express card. There are also unconfirmed reports that are stating that American Express will be issuing a statement denying that the card was cancelled due to a clerk's suspicion. Finally there are reports that this whole incident is nothing more then an internet rumor. First lets clear all this up.. You can read the story in The Boston Globe http://www.boston.com/news/daily/02/rapper.htm.

Also if you recall recently I did a profile on the group RSO who have changed their name to Made Men. I got to hang out with the group as they had just rolled through the Bay Area to promote their new record 'Just Clocking C-Notes'. Raydog wasn't with them when they swung through and I'm not sure if he's doing a solo project or working with Made Men. In any case hit up my man Whiz and I'm sure he can drop the 4-1-1 for you on this unfortunate scenario mailto:noah915@yahoo.com.

In any case Raydog will be filing a lawsuit against Macys and The Braintree police department. People out of his native Boston Area are encouraging people to Boycott Macys Department stores.
